If the page layout looks really wonky as you're reading this and the link back to the home page doesn't work you are not alone. I'm in the process of ditching my old bespoke blogging app and moving to one of those static-generated apps where you manage your posts using Git. These have been all the rage for the past couple years and I've wanted to do it but held back because I dreaded migrating my old posts. But when I woke up this morning to find ~1600 spam comments on my blog I decided it was time.
Jekyll and Nanoc and the other Ruby or Javascript apps are cool but I'm a Pythonista so I decided to go with Pelican, which seems to be the Python app with the biggest crowd behind it. The migration of the content mostly went well though the configuration is another story: it seems to be impossible to make the Home link actually point at the root of the site. I don't see anyone else complaining about this so I assume it's somehow my fault.
As bad as it is to have a non-functioning Home link and a theme that looks like 1994, it's the weekend and the weather is nice for once and I need to get away from my laptop with its crappy keyboard. My apologies to you, dear reader.
